July 27th Scores

Postby DaveG » Tue Jul 27, 2010 10:02 pm

Oh what a Turkish Delight!
To get a package on a Tuesday night.
Players dressed in red and blue,
played hard on field five. Where were you?
Handlers let discs fly through the air
while speedsters streaked deep, defenses unaware.
With "Stimulus Package", I have nothing to ryhme.
But on this night, the mail was on time.

Package - 15
Delight - 13

The drunks from the pub stumbled down the field successfully a grand total of 15 times.
Somehow we managed to keep Rover out of the endzone twice, thus allowing for a 15 - 13 victory for the green machine. A good game was had by all.

MVP was definitely one Mr. Kyle Goldyn for bringing out the Pop Ice. I know those tasty containers of frozen water to have directly caused at least one turnover by young Mr. Mantel. And, really, who knows whatever else they might have changed?
Also, congratulations go to Rover for being the first non-double week team to convince us to play to 15 instead of 17. We at Paddy's were all just a little saddened by that. But by the way Rover was making their 2nd half comeback, maybe playing to 15 wasn't such a bad thing after all. Cheers, mates!

The only two things in life that make it worth livin'
Is Frisbees thrown good and firm feelin' women
We don't need our names in the marquee lights
We got Burners and Boomsticks with us tonight
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love

Let's go to East Ridge, Camp Jordan
With Charlie and Tony and the girls
The successful life we're livin'
Had us huckin' them frisbee toys
Between TimBo's pain songs and
Charlie's Smirnoff Iced songs and Keyes's Eyes Cryin' with shoulder pain
Out in East Ridge, Camp Jordan ain't nobody was feelin' no pain by the end of the game

Grassburners - 17
Boomstick Ice - 12 (?)

Well, the game started about half past six
In a field of grass with no stones or sticks
Close to the cars on the field called one.

After some stretching and throwing we flipped our lid
And it might not be the worst we ever did
For Drill was about to pull to Bright On.

Now, on this day it was might hot
And the team we were to play is an old lot
Of gristle, sinew, titanium and beer.

The disc went up and got real high
About the time the Leirf walked on by
And one more time made it tied one to one.

This is how it was to be all evening long
With points traded by both teams so strong
And sweat covering the disc like oil on the beach.

Before too long, they brought on the zone
And BV was telling his teammates to go home
Not the force, but leave the freaking field.

There were some long points under the hot sun
Where much effort was spent for just a point of one
But with rewards of watching Seth fly.

This is a game that many have dreamt about
As by half time we had maxed out
All of the points that could be played

Drill 8, Bright 7

Bright had many stellar moments that were fun to see
Like when after half this guy named Rusty
Appeared with out his moon boots.

Most of the Game we stuck our man Durough
On a most peculiarly disc defending fellow
That they kept calling the ‘wookie’.

We lost our slim lead against this aging team,
Cause I think that they were able to pick up steam
From a half time feeding of Metamucil and cat food.

A rally was needed to win the contested game
A plan was hatched to make Carl lame.
But we were foiled as he apparently Carl has been lame since the mid 90’s when, on a lark, with $20 in his pocket and his lifelong dream to carve ice statues for formal dinners, weddings and proms, Carl hopped the fence, stuck out his thumb and headed for an Innuit settlement in the Yukon. But that is another story….

By the time the bright sun was fixing to set
The game was too close and not settled yet
We played on while retinas were burnt by the sky.

An epic battle was the legacy we left on the field
Along with the crumpled Johnny Mac just hardly healed
After being taken out by Bright On’s crossworded enforcer.

Zora and Shad stood up and were ready to attack
As Drill Baby Drill scored back to back
And took the game as they scored 15.

Bright On 13
Drill Baby Drill 15

Great Game Bright On!

Violet Crime took half eight to four,
but Blue Ballers were hungry for more.
Either "no more throwing swill"
... or a little blue pill?
Ballers triumph, 15-13 score.

Yay, DGrass! Nice recap. Kray and Brendan, you continue to impress. But Taylor wins this round, and not just because he referenced the Lairf, though that didn't hurt the rating. Thanks for the recaps and kneecaps.
